HRO Palm Bay
7pm Thursday, Feb. 4 (Note date change!)
Palm Bay City Hall

A special message from Space Coast Pride:

We need your help.  We need you to be visible and supportive as the Palm Bay City Council considers a Human Rights Ordinance that includes protections for LGBT people.  This happens Thursday, February 4 at 7:00 PM at 120 Malabar Rd. SE.  You do not need to be a Palm Bay resident to attend.

An HRO is a municipal policy that protects citizens from discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations.  Such ordinances typically mention race, gender, age, religion, national origin, and disability.  More than half of all Floridians live in a location that also includes sexual orientation and gender identity.  No municipality in Brevard County currently includes these two categories.

The vast majority of Fortune 500 companies prohibit discrimination of this kind.  A community with an inclusive HRO is generally viewed as educated and diverse, a good place to do business.  An HRO shows a commitment to fairness and equality.  It tells families and children that they have full human dignity.  It tells young adults they do not need to move elsewhere to achieve success and live openly and honestly.

As you know, coming out is not a political statement or "flaunting" one's sexual orientation.  It is simply living a normal, natural life like heterosexual people do every day.

So, come out!  And wear red!
