The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition Of Melbourne, FL Wishes To Announce Activities Planned To Honor Dr. King.

 The Theme This Year Is:

“Beyond The Dream/Beloved Community” -  Justice and Equality

The Community Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Program will be Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 2729 Lipscomb Street in Melbourne.  Elder Leonard T. Weaver, Jr., from Weaver’s Faith Temple Church, Melbourne, FL will be our guest speaker.  Elder Jonathan Gordon from The New Shiloh Christian Center will be our Worship Leader.  The New Shiloh Christian Center Choir and inspirational members will bring songs of praise and worship.  The program will start promptly at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday, January 21, 2013, At The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library, 955 E. University Boulevard, We Will Begin Our 3 Mile March/Parade, that will kick off at 9:30 am. (We will start lining up at 8:30 am).  We will continue to the Melbourne Civic Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Street and culminate with a program planned by the coalition in the auditorium.  The program will start promptly at 11:30 a.m.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Coalition’s will once again allow participation of those who would like to continue walking and also allow motorized vehicles to be included to provide transportation for those who are now unable to walk.  We would like for all Churches, Schools, Business and organizations to participate in this parade.  We also ask that if an organization or church provide a motorized vehicle to please ask their members to ride on that vehicle.   The deadline for submitting information if you will be having a motorized vehicle is January 19, 2013.
