    Promoting and educating people in the use of native plants to enhance the environment and for ease of upkeep. Speakers at monthly meetings come to educate and amuse. We take field trips to get introduced to new areas. A small nursery is maintained to propagate and grow native plants. We hold periodic public sales for these plants. Join us to learn and to socialize with others interested in Florida Native Plants. This chapter covers north and central Brevard County from Scottsmoor to Viera and east to Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach.

    The Space Coast Audubon Society was formed in the mid-1950s. Over the years this local chapter of both the Florida and National Audubon Societies has grown to include over 1,100 families and individuals. It is now Brevard County's largest all-volunteer environmental organization.

    Web Link Sea Turtle Preservation Society
    The Sea Turtle Preservation Society (STPS) is a not-for-profit organization. STPS relies on the donations from the public, its membership, and the efforts of its dedicated volunteers. Our active volunteers are permitted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Bureau of Imperiled Species, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to work with endangered and threatened sea turtles. STPS is not, however, and enforcement agency. The purpose of our organization is to educate the public about marine turtles. STPS reaches thousands of people each year through public presentations, exhibits at area events, and by our turtle watches during the sea turtle nesting season.

    Web Link Space Coast Paddlers
    Space Coast Paddlers is a canoeing and kayaking club in East Central Florida. We meet the third Wednesday of every month at the Eau Gallie Public Library on Pineapple Avenue just north of Eau Gallie Boulevard and east of US1 in Melbourne. New members are always welcomed! ACA-affiliated. We sponsor a number of events every month, from short morning and evening trips to longer camping trips. You don't need to be an expert to join us -- many of our members are new boat owners. Everyone from beginners to experts will enjoy our variety of flat water and even occasional whitewater trips. People in the club come from all walks of life and just about every age group is represented. We join together because we love to paddle!

    We inspire people to shift towards a plant-centered diet to improve their health, to encourage compassion for animals, and to achieve a sustainable environment. We visit local restaurants for our vegan "Dining Out" events. We bring in speakers, medical doctors and animal advocates, for inspiring health related talks.     Web Link Marine Resources Council
    For over 20 years, the Marine Resources Council (MRC) has focused on major issues involving the Indian River Lagoon including: flow from land drainage and its negative impact on estuarine productivity; loss of seagrasses and mangroves; coordinating local, state, or federal programs for the lagoon; and the need for public education to incorporate science into decision-making. Today, plans for use of the Indian River Lagoon resources are incorporated into the 6 counties' and 33 cities' comprehensive plans, in addition to state management policy. The state legislature now regularly addresses lagoon issues and has dedicated funding to the Lagoon. Also, through the direct efforts of the MRC, the Indian River Lagoon received national recognition in 1990 as a National Estuary of Significance by the EPA.

    The Friends of St. Sebastian River is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, governed by an independent Board of Directors elected by the general membership. The following are the goals of the organization, as established by our Articles of Incorporation and the Board: * To promote and protect the environment and recreational opportunities of the St. Sebastian River and tributaries. * To promote public education and awareness . . . and encourage an attitude of conservation. * To protect wildlife . . . and support effective manatee protection. * To improve water quality, working to eliminate point and non-point sources of pollution . . . and stormwater runoff. * To promote safe boating practices . . . and compatible uses. * To support the restoration and preservation of the St. Sebastian River and tributaries to their natural state. * To participate and cooperate with agencies and organizations protecting the St. Sebastian River basin through such programs as the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM), Florida Yards and Neighborhoods (FYN) and the Marine Resources Council (MRC).
