The Space Coast Electric Vehicle Drivers and the City of  Melbourne invite you to Melbourne's first National Drive Electric Week Event. The event takes place Saturday, September 20th from 10 am to 3 pm at Melbourne City Hall.

This event is one of over 100 events taking place across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in celebration of National Drive Electric Week which runs from September 15th to the 21st. NDEW is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today’s widespread availability as well as the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles. They are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles. Electric vehicles are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

National Drive Electric Week started in 2011 as National Plug In Day.  The idea was to hold simultaneous events across the country on the same day, uniting for one cause. Over the past three years the event has grown and transformed from a day to a weekend  to an official week long celebration with a new name making it clear that the idea behind the event is to promote driving and widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

Plug In America, Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association serve as the national team partners providing support to the NDEW events throughout the country. The NDEW website hosts the main event location map and local event volunteer & attendee registration pages in addition to numerous resources for City Captains so they are able to hold successful events. These three organizations partner with the many other groups, organizations and individuals such as the Space Coast Electric Vehicle  Drivers to bring National Drive Electric Week to communities such as Melbourne, FL.

Attendees can learn about the widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more from driver owners living and working in Brevard County, FL.
