THANKS TO ALL who contributed food, drink, and items for our first, ever, silent auction. Not even thunder, lightening and hard downpour could keep folks away! Well, ok, it scared SOME folks away -- but great fun was had by all -- including new and potential new members!

SCPA 1st Thursday

6:30pm July 3, 2014

Front Street Civic Center, 2205 Front Street, downtown Melbourne FL 32901

Silent Auction

This will not be your ordinary ho-hum silent auction!

DELIVER EARLY: please deliver donated items early, starting 5:45pm.

* Kayak Tour for Two
Experience Florida's natural beuaty during your guided tour with Florida Master Naturalist (Coastal) and kayak guide Cindy Pless, on a relaxing padle at your choice of two destinations. 2.5 hours on the water inlcudes half hour light picnic fare and chat. Choose from St. Sebastian River or Indian River Lagoon at Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge -- the nation's first. Beginners welcome! Tours are weather dependent for your comfort and safety. Offered by Cindy Pless, Sebastian FL, 772-646-2401.

* Delta 10 inch Bench Band Saw Model 28-160
Bench top band saw, almost like new condition, well cared for, tilting bed, extra blade, adjustable guide, complete with user's guide. No workshop is complete without a band saw. Donated by owner Lyn Cope, who is down-sizing or she wouldn't be parting with her woodworking tools.

* Recliner Chair
Talk about comfort! Easy-to-clean imitation leather-like covering. Almost like new, one owner, retired senior citizen moving into smaller quarters, or he would not be parting with this favorite easy-chair.

* Parlor Lamp with milk-white globe
Old fashioned table lamp, but with new, efficient flourescent light bulb.

* Porter Cable Plate Joiner Model 556
Woodworking power tool. Complete, like new condition in carrying case, with instruction manual and three containers of joiner wood biscuits. Price new: $230. Can be yours for...? Donated by owner Lyn Cope, who is down-sizing or she wouldn't be parting with her woodworking tools.

* Subscription to Sunday edition of The New York Times
Once you've read NY Times, you know what real journalism is, and how much we do miss that around here! Now's your chance, perfect entry into what may be the World's Best Sunday Newspaper. Donated by Anon.

* 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Fight the Right
This fabulous and useful book is a excellent guide for anyone (that includes SCPA members!) who wishes to make the world a better place! Now out of print, not always easy to get a copy of this gem of a guide. Published 2006 by Earth Works Press in Oregon. Donated by SCPA Vice President Phil Stasik.

* There will be more surprises, guaranteed!

We welcome your donations to the SCPA 10th Anniversary Silent Auction -- a benefit for SCPA. No junk, please. Progressive items and other offerings invited. Want to sponsor a dinner for two at a favorite restaurant? Sponsor a banana split at Del's? Donate Thomas Piketty's new book? Gift certificate for…? Very best homemade apple pie? Quart of homemade ice cream? Subscription to Sunday New York Times? Yachts and john boats accepted, too -- square-rigged sailing ship or small pram, can do. (Hey! This is going to be fun! And maybe SCPA can make a few bucks, too!)

Let us know what you're planning to bring, so we can add it to the promotions.
