WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

The Indian River Lagoon is in serious, near-death decline. The once bountiful lagoon needs urgent help. Meanwhile, our enlightened Gov. Rick Scott recently vetoed funds to scientifically study the lagoon to help determine what must be done to restore the health of the lagoon. Many city governments refuse to enact strong ordinances to halt fertilizer run-off that must be curtailed. Rep. Crisafulli attempts to thwart cities from doing more. State officials weaken water standards! Congressman Posey votes against Clean Water Act. Septic tank seepage and city sewage leaks must be stopped. Government action -- not just posturing for impotent photo ops -- is required.

What to do? Hands Across the Lagoon is a show of support for long-overdue government action. Help ring the alarm bells for the troubled Indian River Lagoon! Be there at Hands Across the Lagoon!
